Ithaca · Local digest
One Ithaca story today you'd miss anywhere else. Skip national politics. Prefer transport, housing, council decisions, openings, and city-level policy — the things that change life for someone living in Ithaca. Always cite the local outlet (e.g. Tagesspiegel, RBB) so I can read further.

Student event moratorium
Ithaca is shutting down all student events until Cornell reforms.
Mayor Robert Cantelmo announced an immediate moratorium on student event and special event permits—including Greek life gatherings—following a lawsuit alleging sexual assault at Cornell's Chi Phi house in 2024 [Quelle: Cornell Sun]. The ban stays in place until Cornell releases new sexual violence prevention standards and protocols. Several alderpersons signaled support, though at least two asked for more details before a Common Council vote.
This is the harshest local response yet to campus misconduct.
Transit route updates
Cortland bus schedules just refreshed for fall commuters.
The COR 6 route—linking Walmart to Tompkins Cortland Community College—published updated time tables and service alerts [Quelle: Centro]. Route maps and PDF schedules are live. The change comes as regional transit agencies adjust for seasonal demand shifts and enrollment cycles at local colleges.
Check your stop before Thursday if you commute between Cortland and TC3.
