The City of Ithaca launched "Keep Ithaca Paws-itive. Protect Your Pet.", a year-round campaign to educate residents about dog licensing requirements and responsible pet ownership. New York State requires dogs to be licensed in the municipality where they physically reside and maintain current rabies vaccinations. The city is partnering with local organizations including the Downtown Ithaca Alliance, Southside Community Center, Tompkins County SPCA, Cornell University, Ithaca College, veterinary clinics, housing providers, and pet-related businesses to distribute educational materials throughout the year.
