Epiq announced Tuesday the launch of expanded agentic capabilities in Epiq AI Accelerate, powered by Anthropic's Claude models, allowing users to conduct system-wide processes through natural language requests including document search, summarization, review, export, and conflict searches, with general availability beginning in August. Spanish law firm Andersen and AI company 1MillionBot have formed Legit & Legal Intelligence, a joint venture designed to implement AI projects with "compliant by design" regulatory compliance built in from inception rather than added later. The initiative aligns with Spain's ALIA public AI infrastructure project and European open models like EuroLLM, responding to European AI Regulation requirements that organizations deploying AI in sensitive sectors (financial, insurance, health, education, labor, public administration) must demonstrate compliance with standards like ISO/IEC 42001 and maintain complete traceability from design to production. This represents a shift in the Spanish legaltech market toward building AI compliance infrastructure independent of US providers, though ALIA and EuroLLM remain in development and their ability to fully resolve European technological dependency on foreign infrastructure remains to be proven.
